The Day After

I had formulated a lengthy post-mortem to yesterday's election, but better minds than mine will no doubt be beaver busy taking care of that today, so I will be brief in this regard.

First, why did McCain lose?

It is simple. He tried to run as a Republican, and it did not ring true.

McCain's ideology can most accurately described as a Reagan Democrat. He has never had a particularly conservative ideology, or an ideology that can really be nailed down for that matter.

This was an ideological fight, B.Hussein brought a bazooka and McCain brought a rubber knife. It is kind of hard to really take on someone when you probably agree with them at your core. This was the problem that McCain faced.

The Republican Party this year made the mistake of buying into the "conventional wisdom", and it cost them big time.

The conventional wisdom was that Republicans needed to move to the center this year or they wouldn't have any chance.

This is of course absolute horse-pucky. When conservatives run as conservatives they WIN. I don't know how many times this has to be proven before Republicans finally get it, but there it is.

Until September of this year, John McCain was destined to be only the kindly old man that lost to the first black president.

Sarah Palin gave him the ONLY chance that he had, but people vote the top of the ticket, and even she could not pull him over the finish line.

It is time for Republicans to reinvigorate the brand, and fair or not, that means that it is time for people like McCain to go.

Shock Poll - McCain Moves Ahead

Being reported at the Drudge Report right now.

Check it here.

Besided this one, it also turns out that the aunt Obama has left living in a slum is here illegally.

Check the AP here.

Bad day for B.Hussein.

Yay! I am back!

I was unable to log into my blog lately for reasons that would be of no interest to anyone at all, but I am back now.

I am sure that my throng of fans will be pleased.

Not that it matters. I have been much less interested in this election since McCain decided to vote for this idiotic bailout bill.

My biggest hope at this time is only that Sexy Sarah is not tainted by the stink of running with a liberal Republican.

Considering that she has not been shy about contradicting him on the stump I think she will pull through just fine.

Lot's to catch up on of course. Obama is finally being outed as the socialist he is, and Joe Biden has been absolutely stellar in his ongoing display of early onset dementia.

1 week left?

Nice place to start getting going again.

How McCain Could Win It All Tonight

Win the debate? Most certainly.

But more importantly, John McCain could win the election tonight by doing a few simple things.

Jim Lehrer, the moderator and well-known leftist is sure to try and ask a few gotcha questions, and even if he doesn't, McCain can bring the subject up himself in a variety of ways.

The Democrats have been all over the airwaves today screeching that John McCain's presence in Washington yesterday had scuttled the bill that was already agreed upon.

Imagine that Barack or Lehrer brings this up in the debate. It could go something like this:

Lehrer: Senator McCain, Democrats and some Republicans have been complaining that the injection of presidential politics into this process has harmed their ability to cut a deal, and that they in fact already had a deal before you came into town. Do you have any response to those that accuse you of ruining the deal that was already on the table?

McCain: Yes Jim, I do have a response. The deal that was on the table yesterday was an abomination. It was an affront to every American who expects The President and Congress to act responsibly and protect the interests of the citizens of the United States.

Not only did it not address the underlying problem, it brought no accountability to those who created this problem.

But that is not all.

In typical Washington fashion, Democrats had already loaded down the bill with provisions that would have provided 20 percent of any possible returns that were supposed to go to taxpayers to various left-wing organizations, including a group call ACORN, who is currently under investigation in 39 states for voter fraud and other improprieties, and for whom my opponent has worked in the past.

If my mere presence in Washington was enough to kill this egregious tax-payer ripoff, then I am happy to take credit for that if the Democrats wish to give me that credit.

As it stands, I will not be voting for this bill until Washington gets it's act together and presents a serious reform package.

Now the question is this, will McCain be willing to use such a nuke?

His record on this is spotty, and I have been guilty in the past of assigning more intelligent motives to McCain's actions than were actually present.

Question to John McCain, Do you want to win or not?

Sorry Paul, It Doesn't Wash

One of the positive opportunities that has arisen from this week's Wall St. troubles is that voters have the chance to get a clear view of how these types of events may be handled in the future by our respective presidential candidates.

The widespread consensus among the media was that Barack Obama flew out of the gate in order to capitalize on an issue that is thought to be a strength among his "base" in the media.

Obama HAS experienced a slight uptick in the polls, but the internals of the serious polls (those not done by the N.Y. Times and the Media) that have been released this week show that the impact of this economic news may be negligible at best.

Contrary to the portrayal of a candidate that has now found his issue, we actually saw a candidate that was desperate to get ahead of, and control the narrative of this issue.

Obama is hip-deep in this mess, and his handlers know that if they do not get out front and immunize him it has the possibility of sinking him instead.

On the list of the top ten Senators who have taken money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac between 1989 and 2008, Barack Obama is number 2.

Yes, that is correct. In the 3 or so years that he has been a Senator he has been able to surpass almost all others in the amount of money he has taken from this now corrupted entity, approximately 120,000 dollars.

In addition, Obama has on his staff one of the two men that were largely responsible for driving Fannie Mae onto the iceberg, and has taken advice on housing issues from another.

Further, it is estimated that Barack Obama has taken about 400,000 dollars from the now bankrupt Lehman Brothers, the entity that started Monday's fall.

There are numerous articles regarding Barack Obama's connection to this collapse everywhere. I have included just one of these breakdowns here.

Regardless, the most important aspect of Obama's reaction are his ideas. It is now five days since this whole mess finally came to light, and Obama's plan has been two-fold:

1. Blame McCain

2. Blame George Bush

As of this morning Obama has changed tactics:

He is choosing to say nothing for now. Voting PRESENT, if you will.

That is one dazzling plan of action isn't it?

John McCain on the other hand, outlined a very specific and extensive plan this morning in Green Bay,WI.

You can view the details of that plan here.

McCain is also on record from 3 years ago warning of this crisis. In 2005 he said the following:

Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives.

In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

You can read more about this attempt at reform here.

You can see a smattering the overall tactic that Democrats plan to use on this issue the hit piece written by left-wing hatchet man Paul Soglin here.

Lost in the blizzard of propaganda that Soglin is pushing, is anything resembling actual fact.

Soglin's argument seems to come down to the following, and I am para-phrasing:

"Republicans did this, and Democrats voted with them because they were chicken."

No mention of Obama's ties to this mess.

No mention that Bill Clinton signed the bill, which was supported by Clinton advisers Robert Reisch, and Larry Summers.

No mention that Democrats Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, who BOTH have CURRENT ties to the Obama campaign, were the ones who drove Fannie Mae into the ground, lining their pockets and the coffers of Democrat politicians in the process.

There is an old saying:

"If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t"

Waxing America?

Hmmmm.....

Somehow "wax" is not the first thing that comes to mind......

Joe Biden ....Bless Him! Part II

Again I say it.

What a freaking wierdo.

Check it here.

Richard Wright R.I.P

I don't believe that I have been this sad at a celebrity's passing since George Harrison.

Pink Floyd's Richard Wright. The most under-rated musician that ever lived, he was the soul of of Pink Floyd.

Just a reminder.......

The guy who has been Obama's "Mentor" and "Father Figure" for 20 years.

Here ya go.

Dear Mr. Obama

Couldn't say any better than this guy says it.

Kinda made my hair stand on end. Wow.

Check it here.

The Next Tack....

Looks like the next tactic of the flailing Obama campaign is now to question the honor of McCain and accuse him of being a liar.

Just as the experience issue was a loser, this is likely another game of rope-a-dope by McCain that will eventually draw attention to all of Obama Bin Biden's MANY mis-truths and "lapses of honesty".

While we are waiting for this all to get into full swing, here is another entertaining Biden gaffe for ya.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=247_1219507219

Check that out. And KNOW THIS: It's all B.S.

None of that happened.

Biden's excuse?

"When I get angry I tend to exaggerate."

Ooooooeeee. It is gonna be an interesting fall.

Good Lord........

It's still going on.

It is like watching an extended version of "Book Notes" on C-Span.

This guy is really in love with his own voice.

Oh My......

I am watching the "9/11 Presidential Forum" on Fox News.

It is a forum about National Service.

First McCain gets a bunch of questions, then Bambie.

It is Bambie's turn and he has taken about 5 solid minutes to answer the first question, hitting every one of his talking points along the way.

I lost interest about 3 minutes in....and I actually CARE what he says.

They had to go to the break right in the middle of his 2nd answer.

Man......It is way beyond me how he got out of that stadium speech without being pummeled by beer bottles.

What a snooze.

Dems now worried about Congress

I was wondering how long it would be before this came about (as an aside, you can now see why I told you to take that 50 dollar bet Krav).

Dems in congress are beginning to worry that the newly re-energized Republican base is a threat to thier re-election. Check out the story here.

They have reason to worry, because it IS a threat as I knew it would be.

Just imagine.

I believe that about 10 minutes of Sarah Palin standing by John Gard's side in Appleton will just about put Kagan in the ground, and that this could be repeated all over the country.

And make no mistake, The Fox Valley is a swing area in what has become a swing state. They will be seeing ALOT of Sarah Palin.

Remembering Is A Good Thing....

Looked around for some videos about 9/11.

Most of it was lunatic trash from the Liberal nut-cases who want us to think that George Bush killed all those people.

But this one did stand out.

Look at it and remember how you felt that day.

And know this:

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Russ Feingold and thier ilk DO NOT WANT YOU TO REMEMBER.

Check it out here.

The Emperor's New Clothes

Looks like Obama has decided to inject his unserious presidential campaign with new source material.

Yep, here it is:

Obama is now cribbing campaign strategy from CARTOONS.

Seriously.

Check it here.

This is how it stands right now folks. Sarah Palin stood up and said that "The Emperor Has No Clothes" and Obama has been caught standing naked as a jaybird.

And just like the Emperor in the story, he proceeds along as though nothing has happened.

Revealing himself as a fool the whole way along.

As Long As We Area Talking Gaffe's

Michelle Malkin has a nice run down of some of Obambie's choicest gaffe's.

It is pretty old so it is incomplete. I will add more later.

Check it here.

Joe Biden ....Bless Him!

Here is a video of Joe Biden telling a man in a wheelchair to "stand up so everyone can get a look at you".

Check it out here.

We all make mistakes, but Biden always seems to make really WIERD mistakes.

That has always been my description of him.

Aside from the fact that he is a crook, he is just really friggin' wierd.

McCain's Lead Holding?

2 Days in a row Gallup has him 5 points ahead.

Here is the story.

A Bit of Ammo.....

While you are trying to cut through the harsh tone of the left-wing ground noise, here are a few things to remember.

Since Family Is On The Table.....

Since the lefty wierdos have had no problem going after Sarah Palin's family, I am assuming that family is now open for critique.

Here is an excellent analysis of Hunter Biden, who actually IS a lobbyist for credit card companies.

Joe Biden himself is so tied in with these folks that some of his colleagues refer to him as the "Senator from Merchant's Bank".

Snappy name, but I think "crook" is probably more appropriate.

Check it here.

Layin' Back

Been layin' back a bit in the wake of the conventions. Too much smoke out there to really offer any kind of decent analysis as things could change any minute.

Now that things have settled down a bit, let us get to the issues shall we?

The Wall Street Journal has an excellent account of Obama's ever-fluctuating tax proposals.

You can check it out here. MUCH more to come today, I have been saving alot of links with alot of good info.

And McCain Tops Them Both............

McCain breaks Obama's viewership record......with 2 fewer channels actually showing the speech.

Check it out here.

Raking in the Ratings

Sara Palin's speech last night pulled in almost as many viewers as Obama's speech did last week.

Not only is this impressive on it's own, but the fact of the matter is that her speech was only carried on 6 networks while Obama's was carried on 10.

One particularly exciting factoid is that she actually pulled in MORE Spanish viewers than Obama even though her speech was NOT carried on the Spanish T.V. networks while his WAS.

Total breakdown here.

The Historic Torch Passes

I cannot help but notice something as I watch and read the news today.

It seems that regardless of who wins this election (McCain most assuredly), a sort of sea-change has taken place.

The two "old white guys" Biden and McCain seem to have completely faded into the background.

Barry and Sarah have completely occupied all the space available.

Interesting........

The new "Iron Lady".

I am gonna let this girl speak for herself.

I will just say this:

Obama has a problem on his hands. Palin has completely over-shadowed McCain, and Barry is now running against HER.

Strangely enough, she seems to have the same effect on people that Obama does on his party.

Check out the speech here.

Brilliant Play

Just one day after the supposed "greatest speech in history", John McCain has the press saying "Obama Who?" with his surprise pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for his VP candidate.

It was thoroughly enjoyable watching Andrea Mitchell try to be unbiased this morning. The poor woman looked like she was gonna be sick.

Regardless the poo-pooing of the tin-foil crowd on MSNBC, the truth is that they are now scared.

They did not expect this, and they do not like to be out-smarted by the likes of McCain.

For those of you who may be a little jittery about her experience, and the extent to which this may be used against the McCain campaign.........let me put your minds at ease.

The "experience" issue is exactly WHY this is a brilliant pick.

Hillary Clinton tried for months to make Obama's non-existent resume' an issue in the campaign to no avail.

The syncophants in the mainstream press guarded his butt the whole way along.

So how to deal with such an issue if you are John McCain?

Very simple: Put Obama in a position where he will make experience the issue all on his own.

Considering that Obama was an invisible Senator with almost no voting record and zero accomplishments to his name, I believe that if the contest is going to be over experience, Obama will lose quite badly.

And guess what?

It will be an argument that he started all on his own.

Well played President McCain, well played.

The First Hit Comes........

Right IN THE MIDDLE of Hillary's speech lying about how she supports Obama, the Clinton people release a statement saying that Bill will NOT be attending B. Hussein's Thursday night acceptance speech.

Right in the middle. Check it out here.

Well played, and designed to suck all of that UNITY right out of the room.

I am sure that Clinton's followers got the message regardless what she said at the podium.

Think they are done Barry?

Better keep your head on a swivel, 'cause I believe they have just begun.

If Looks Could Kill......

I am sure that this will come up in the next few days....

If looks could kill, Hillary would be dead right now. Even my 14 year daughter noticed the look of contempt on Michelle O's face through the first half of Hillary's speech.

She lightened up right about in the middle.

I am sure one of her handlers got to her and told her to lighten up for the cameras.

The speech itself?

Pure Vanilla.

Hillary was truly on fire when she spoke about HERSELF, not so much the few times she even mentioned B.Hussein.O.

She said what she had to say, but after all these years it is not hard to tell when a Clinton is full of it, and it was obvious to all but the cat that was watching it with me.

Hillary Speaks

I decided to watch the Hillary Clinton speech at the Democrat Convention tonight as it is probably the first entertaining thing that would be happening in this snoozefest.

I admit it, the dark undercurrent of angry Clinton supporters on the convention floor does draw my interest.

Will there be a protest? Maybe a bit if bra-burning?

The possibilities are endless!

Of course we all know she will be a good soldier and throw her support behing B.Hussein.O in the strongest terms she is capable of, but her supporters just MAY be a different story.

Stay tuned.

Speaking of TOOLS....

Not to be outdone in the "who is the biggest Tool in Wisconsin Politics" contest, Russ Feingold ( who has told a few embarrassing stories of his own), has submitted to Wispolitics yet again the same editorial trying to pitch his now discredited claim that Oil Companies are purposely sitting leased oil wells.

This is of course a lie, and Russ knows it. Check it out here for a grin.

Here is what is REALLY happening with oil leases here.

But who cares about that? Certainly nobody in Wisconsin Media.

Besides, he can't tell the truth, which is that Democrats actually WANT higher prices, so a nice obfuscation will do in the place of nothing.

Again, Wisconsin deserves better.

Number One TOOL is more like it..

Well, well.

Here we are dealing with yet ANOTHER embarrassing LIE on the part of Rep. Steve Kagen.

This is the same joker who claimed right after his election that he had "confronted" Karl Rove in the bathroom of the White House. This of course, turned out to be a total fabrication.

Check out the story here.

Now he is claiming that Karl Rove has made him the NUMBER ONE TARGET in the upcoming elections.

Aside from the fact that Rove doesn't even work in the White House anymore, I am pretty sure that Rove has to actually look Kagen up when anyone mentions him to remember who he actually is.

You remember those kids in school who always told lies to puff up thier own importance?

I recall sitting by in embarrassed silence on one particular occasion while a classmate regaled us with tales of the Jimi Hendrix concert the week before.

Of course, Hendrix had been 10 years in the ground by that time.

This is Kagen: Immature, Embarrassing, and not really very bright altogether.

What a TOOL.

Wisconsin deserves better.

And then they came for you....

A pretty stark warning for all you lefties out there who are salivating at the re-instatement of the Fairness Doctrine.

An employee of the FCC is warning that this may also be used to restrict internet content.

Check it out here.

As I predicted......

Looks like things are shaping up pretty much as I thought they would.

The more the public gets to know Barack Hussien Obama the less they actually like him.

Check out today's Rasmussen Poll Here.

For a bit of context, understand that Michael Dukakis was beating George Bush Sr. by about 16 points at this point in the 1988 election. Bush went on to win of course.

Well, maybe they LIKE him, but his major problem is that they are beginning to understand who he actually is.

This can only be bad for him.

On top of this, we now have Barry out yapping about reparations for blacks.

Check it out here.

Oh yeah. Lump sum payments to the descendants of slaves ought to go over great in Middle America.

Ya gotta wonder whether Obama is just that stupid or if it is that he is just that out of touch.

I am always reminded of the movie "The Pirates of Silicon Valley".

There is a scene where a fictional Paul Allen asks the fictional Bill Gates how IBM could make such stupid business moves, and not see the obvious downside, to which Bill Gates replies:

"They are successful, and success is a menace. It makes otherwise intelligent people believe they can never make a wrong decision".

Did Barry burn a bit too brightly too soon?

A Rare Bit Of Perspective

I was trolling through the (increasingly boring) news this morning and found this little gem in the L.A. Times.

I have been wondering for years why it is that folks tend to immediately lionize and honor the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain.

We are always told how tragic it is that they met thier end so soon.

That word.....TRAGEDY.

How about malignant narcissism?

How about the ultimate in self-centered, selfish behavior?

A tragedy is when a 26 year old man with a baby daughter gets hit by a bus.

When a 26 year old man with 30 million dollars in the bank and ALL THE RESOURCES HE CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE blows his brains out it is not a tragedy.

It is a childish, selfish act.

He did not care a wit for his fans, his daughter, or anyone other than himself.

A musical genuis? Possibly.

But a loser for sure.

Gas Not High Enough?

Apparently not to your elected officials.

Not only does the Democrat Congress refuse to even CONSIDER a Gas Tax Holiday, they are quietly trying to pass an 18 cent INCREASE in gas taxes. Check out the story here.

So let's get this straight:

Drilling for our own oil is out.

Nuclear Energy is out.

Drilling for our MASSIVE deposits of Natural Gas is out.

Heck, even WIND power is out if the Environut wing of the Democrat Party get's it's way.

BUT HIGHER ENERGY TAXES ARE IN!

YAYYYYY!!!!

I believe it is time for Republicans to stop talking about McCain and paste this little bit of info across the sky.

This is definitely the key to re-taking the majority.

Not the John McCain that I knew......

It seems that everyone is suddenly awaking to find that they really don't know anybody.

B.Hussein.O :

"That's not the Tony Rezko I knew......"

"That's not the Jeremiah Wright that I knew...."

"That's not the Michael Phleger that I knew......,."

"That's not the Bill Ayers that I knew......................."

Now it turns out that John Kerry woke up in the midst of a revelation. I guess the John McCain that he BEGGED to be his vice-president in 2004 is not the John McCain that he knew!!

Check it out here.

WMD's Revisited

Interesting article from the AP (of all places) about the WMD's that were supposedly not found in Iraq.

Of course there will be no end of silly rationalizations designed to justif the intense hatred for Bush, but I can't help but wonder what B.Hussein.O would say about this?

Here is the link, spread it about folks!

N.Y. Time Mag and Rush

Just got done reading this excellent article on Rush Limbaugh from this Sunday's N.Y. Times Magazine.

I gotta say that considering it is the Times I expected a hit-piece.

Not so.

In fact it is about the most well-balanced profile of the man I have ever seen.

Not slaveringly affectionate and not dripping with contempt and contradiction.

Oh, and it covers his drug addiction with a surprising amount of candor.

Check it out here.

Just Say No To Summerfest....

In the interest of full disclosure on the following, I should let you know that we saw our oldest off on Monday as he heads for Army Basic Training in Ft. Benning,GA.

In view of this, it kind of hits home that Summerfest has chosen to toss the U.S. Army off the grounds because they have a war-game simulation that is "inappropriate".

Yup.

The sleazy rap starts that glorify crack, violence and the criminal underground, and who refer to the women in thier community as "Chickenheads", "Bitches" , and "Ho's" are no problem.

The acts at the rock stage who scream obscenities at the top of thier 50,000 watt lungs are no problem.

But the Army?

One of the institutions that enables the useless who occupy the Summerfest stages to do thier thing?

Guess they just don't measure up to the "high" standards of porno-kings and queens.

Nice going guys.

Something Note-Worthy...FINALLY..

Bet y'all missed me didn't ya?

Been being generally lazy and waiting for something worthy of comment. Not much is these days.

Oh wait, B.Hussein.O is a liar and a light-weight?

Yeah, we all know that. I will comment in due time, but there are a few months yet for that.

Catching the eye today though, is the fact that Joe Horn has been cleared of any wrong-doing in the deaths of 2 men he shot while they were breaking into his neighbor's house. Good to see that there is at least SOME sanity in the legal system.

Maybe we should get Joe on the Supreme Court eh? Bet he would make short work of this whole child rape issue.

Hear the Joe Horn 911 call here.

It's a freakin' HOOT.

Oh My God!! An Entry!!

Bet ya darn near fell off your chair when you saw that there was a new entry didn't ya?

Sorry about the time between entries, but I have been very busy.

MUCH less busy now ;)

Anyway, I am sure that we have all had one of those situations where you are having an argument with someone that is easily resolved, but all you can do is watch the other person put thier feet deeper and deeper in the mud until they have screwed themselves?

Had one of those this week with some idiot myself.......but I digress.

This comes to mind as I am reading this story about Barack Hussein Obama "confronting" Joe Lieberman on the Senate floor.

Who does Lieberman think he is anyway?

This is the Democrat Party! You can't just walk around SPEAKIN' all the time like you own the place!

The poor man has NO IDEA the amount of threatening and arm-twisting he is in for.

On the other hand, like the guy who has both feet in the mud, Barack Hussein Obama seems to have little or no grasp on the amount of damage Lieberman can do to him, and it is alot.

Already BHO is trying to make nicey-nice with the Jewish lobby, and Lieberman has basically called him out on the carpet as being full of it.

Does BHO get ANY of this?

Considering his track record, I would say it is unlikely.

My Sympathies

Much sympathy to my Democrat friends out there. I imagine that by now you are just about coming to the conclusion that you have surrendered your party to a moron, and it is too late to do anything about it.

Enjoy the article below!

Obama The Gaffe Machine.

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Excellent article this morning in the WSJ. It is an excerpt from a speech given by Joe Lieberman.

All in all, it is a pretty good speech, but this is the money quote:

"no people in history have ever survived, who thought they could protect their freedom by making themselves inoffensive to their enemies."

Excellent point.

No Speech For You!!

I missed this one last week, but a friend brought to my attention this fine example of a "tolerant progressive" destroying the display of a group that he does not agree with.

This guy is part of the student government at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

I love how he goes on to ramble that folks who are pro-life have no right to that opinion.

I am kind of at a loss for words in trying to describe this guy, but I think Rush Limbaugh has a good one for folks like this:

"A Glittering Jewel Of Colossal Ignorance".

Yep, that just about covers it.

This is of course another reason why a college diploma is becoming more worthless by the day.

Especially if you are insane enough to send your child to a college in Wisconsin.

The Senator From.................Magic Land!

What a grueling travel schedule.

Apparently, Barack Hussein Obama has visited 57 States so far in this campaign.

Can't help wondering if McCain had said this same thing if the media would leave it alone.

Of course not, but we knew that anyway didn't we?

Cry Havoc! And Let Slip The Dogs Of War!

Well, it looks like Barack Hussein Obama has pretty much wrapped up the Dem nomination, which leads us to a McCain/Obama battle in the coming months.

I just want to say this right now on the record:

John McCain is going to be the next President of the United States.

I know that the local talk-show circuit (Sykes, Belling and the like) are pretty thoroughly convinced that BHO is going to have an easy time of it due to the unpopularity of Bush, but I ain't buyin' it.

My gut instinct tells me that I am not going to be the only one to come to the conclusion that BHO is probably the worst candidate put forward by either major party since Walter Mondale, and Mondale was a scholar compared to this cat.

That said, it is going to be interesting to see if John McCain, the candidate of the "Media Party", is ready for how fast his fans in the liberal media are going to turn on him.

Over the next few weeks, we will begin to see a slow turn.

John McCain is going to go from a "war-hero","moderate", and a "maverick" to a racist, bigoted religious zealot who is the last vestige of the OLD Guard and "out of touch".

You are going to hear "out of touch" alot.

In fact, over the rest of this campaign you can pretty much bank on the fact that the slightest criticism of Barack Hussein Obama is going to be labeled RACIST right off the bat.

Actual Objective Reporter:

What is your energy plan Senator Obama?

Obama:

I am getting tired of this same old game of gotcha and gutter politics!

Actual Objective Reporter:

How could you sit for 20 years in the same church with Jeremiah Dice Clay and not know that he is a racist and a nutburger?

Obama:

I am getting tired of the same old game of race-baiting and gutter politics!

I think you get the point. And there is no doubt that Chris Matthews and the like will be perfectly willing to help dig through John McCain's drawers in search of Confederate Flag Undies.

Strap your self in Johnny Boy!

You are in for one HELL of a ride!

The media is going to go at John McCain harder than they ever have in the history of this country.

As long as he realizes just how little they mean out here in the real world he will be fine.

If not, get ready for 4 years of watching the most unqualified President in history stumbling through the motions.

One good thing for Dems though:

Jimmy Carter may actually begin to appear competent by comparison.

Conservatives For Clinton??

Ya know, as much as I hate to say it, there really IS a legitimate argument for a conservative to vote for HRC this fall if she pulls out the nomination.

My thought process on this one gets a little convoluted, so please bear with me.

First of all, I acknowledge up front that Hillary is a LIAR, a CROOK, and a POWER HUNGRY TROLL who will say whatever she has to say, and do whatever she has to do to get elected.

Not only are these things not road-blocks for me, I am absolutely counting on these things.

If her history in her husband's administration is any indication (and it is the only indication we have at this point), many months and/or years prior to an HRC Presidency, Hillary is already thinking about her legacy.

Hillary does not want to be the 1st woman president and SUCK at it.

Knowing this, let us look at a little history:

Bill Clinton signed into law Welfare Reform after saying over and over that he would do no such thing.

Why? Because the American people demanded that he do so, and he cared what they thought about him.

Outcome? Good.

Though Newt Gingrich's Contract With America cannot be said to be a total success, many of the sub-provisions DID pass, many of them with a little help ( or with little resistance) from the Clinton Administration. Many of the government reform pieces passed in other bills.

Why? Again, the American people demanded these things.

Whether or not it was his giant ego, or a sincere desire to do the will of the American People, Bill Clinton was more likely to back down from outrageous policy (health care reform), or acquiesce to sound policy (welfare reform).

Bill Clinton wanted to be loved by all Americans, and judging by her behavior, there is no reason to expect that his wife will be any different, especially with the "First Woman President" tag hanging over her head.

Now, to the matter of John McCain.

John McCain is also a LIAR, a CROOK, and a POWER HUNGRY TROLL who will say or do anything to get elected.

Much like Bob Dole in '96, John McCain is running on the "You Ain't Got Nobody Else and It's My Turn Now Anyway" platform.

HRC and McCain are pretty much cut from the same cloth:

"Give me the nomination because I earned it".

Given that Hillary Clinton is totally full beans when she talks about all of the left-wing nuttery she will implement, it is not entirely beyond the realm of possibility that the inverse is true with McCain:

That every conservative line that comes out of McCain's mouth is a lie.

That he will do no such things when he gets in office, and that he does not give a FIG what the American People think about anything.

Why is this?

Quite frankly, he doesn't NEED to.

John McCain has only one core constituency that he really cares about: The Press.

3 years down the road, the people of Fond Du Lac, WI. could be burning him in effigy in their labor day parade, and McCain will not hear a whisper of it unless it comes from the Washington Press Corps and The N.Y. Times.

If anything, his history in such issues as McCain-Feingold show that he will have no compunction about trying to find a way to shut them down.

As long as the press continues to heap praise upon McCain, he will glide along comfortably as though there is nothing wrong.

Now ask yourself, Do you want The New York Times running this country?

So far in his career, there is every indication that these folks are ALL that McCain cares about.

In summation, let me put it this way:

Hillary Clinton will actually TRY to be a good, non-partisan president. If for no other reason than she does not want to become the next Jimmy Carter.

John McCain, if his own history is an indicator, will spend most of his time trying to get the liberal media to say good things about him.

This will mean:

Amnesty for Illegals

Higher Taxes

and

Global Warming Silliness

Just to name a few.

So in my mind, there is SOME reason to at least consider HRC if it is a McCain-Clinton fight.

This may all be moot depending upon how Clinton does the next few weeks, but it certainly is food for thought.

Of course, Barack Hussein Obama is a NUT surrounded by OTHER NUTS and probably stands no chance of getting elected, so the choice may be out of our hands.

Hmmm...

4 years of "rule by press".

What is Dole doing nowadays?

Gotta Love The Classics

When all else fails, go to the old classics.

Saddled with a weak candidate and a possible blood-bath on thier hands, the Dems have predictably decided to start early with thier tried and true tactic of race hustling.

Howard Dean on Fox News Sunday this last week has accused the Republicans of "race-baiting".

Translated for normal folk, this means "criticized our candidate".

Get ready for this one folks. If Barack Hussein Obama gets the nomination you are going to hear this over and over and over again right into and for a year after the November elections.

Forget about the fact that Bill Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama are the only ones that have tried (so far) to make this election about race.

A pliable media and a delusional Dem party are going to be doing everything they can to make John McCain look like a Klansman in the next 6 months, especially once the debates begin and Obama is exposed for the light-weight that he really is.

Good thing there are no real Klansmen left any more.

Oh wait! Don't the Democrats still have one in thier party?

Shoulda took a left at.....

Interesting little tidbit that I notice is not getting very much play the last few days.

A former Gitmo detainee who jumped right back into the war and killed a few Americans.

But wait! I thought that this was impossible?

Isn't every detainee in Gitmo innocent according to the Dems?

This guy was supposed to be just a poor baker who forgot to take a left at Kandahar and ended up in Club Gitmo!

I would love to hear Barack Hussein Obama's take on this, but if it is anything like the answers on his psycho, racist pastor then I don't think that ANY of us have enough time left for him to play out that string.

On The Lighter Side...........

Here is something that was sent to me by a friend. Enjoy.

Be back blogging as soon as I finish the "project that never ends" at work.

NEW CHEMICAL ELEMENT DISCOVERED

Written by To The Point News Friday, 25 April 2008

The latest research in particle physics has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every action with which it comes into contact. Governmentium exhibits a quite rare physical capacity: being an anti-catalyst.

A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from days to years to complete, perhaps even preventing the reaction entirely.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical state is referred to as critical morass.

Researchers are now postulating that a society reaching critical morass would look very much like America at this particular position and moment in space-time.

The Statewide Smoking Ban....

..........And other silly demands.

Been a few days again since I have updated my little screed, but rest assured that that I was eagerly awaiting anything remotely interesting to talk about.

Lo and behold, I came across this excellent break-down of what is so absolutely WRONG about the Statewide Smoking Ban that the "wussy" class has been trying to stuff down our throats lately. Give it a read, this guy breaks it down better than I ever could.

On that subject though, I think that as long as we are talking about the dangerous and stupid behavior of our fellow citizens and just how we can protect ourselves from them, I decided to point out a few of the things that I would like to push for if we decided to go in this direction.

For the sake of this argument, I am going to assume that the "dangers of second-hand smoke" are the reasons that we are having this argument. The fact that science has proven this argument to be bogus over and over again is not going to to enter into this conversation.

I am going to GRANT that second-hand smoke is dangerous for the sake of this argument. It ISN'T, but that is a discussion for another time.

(btw, those of you who just send me e-mails instead of posting: Screw You! You are dead to me).

Let us examine, shall we, OTHER ways in which my fellow citizens put our lives in danger every day. REAL ways, not just fictional ones that have been floated by do-gooders and politicians hoping to grab their votes.

1. Speeders

This one puts us all in danger in verifiable ways. It is pretty easy to count dead people on the highway and you don't have to fudge the stats at all like Smoke Free Wisconsin loves to do.

The speed limits are there for a reason, and it is a safety issue. I would really love to ( and may someday soon) take a look at the traffic records of the SFW folks and see just how many of them show a callous disregard for their fellow human beings while they are behind the wheel.

I propose the following :

You get one free pass. Anyone getting a speeding ticket gets a significant fine. 500-1000 dollars should do it.

Anyone getting 2 speeding tickets loses their license for a significant amount of time. 5-7 years seems reasonable.

3 tickets?

You are out of the game for good. You have proven yourself an unrepentant danger to the rest of us, therefore you have surrendered your right to drive with the rest of us.

2.Cell Phones While Driving

Does any serious person believe this should not be banned? I am not talking about the everything but the "hands free" option either. It is the conversation that is a distraction, not holding the phone. Considering the fact that the people who are always yapping on the cell phone happen to be younger, less experienced drivers this seems like a no-brainer.

I propose the following:

An out and out ban on cell phones and/or cell conversations while driving and severe penalties and long term loss of driving rights if this ban is violated.

3. Drunk Drivers

If the standard is to be whether or not a person's behavior is a danger to the rest of us, then this one is REALLY a no-brainer.

I propose the following:

ONE and your DONE. No driving EVER, and prison time if you are caught driving after.

You have shown the same reckless disregard for others as a person who kills an innocent in a drive-by. You may not MEAN to do it, but it is your actions that cause it.

We just cannot take a chance on you.

Now, if the standard truly is SAFETY and the well being of others in public spaces, how could anyone who is in FAVOR of the smoking ban argue with the above?

Remember, I am just using the standard of measure that folks like Smoke Free Wisconsin use. Public Safety, Public Health.

The fact of the matter is though, that people like SFW are not interested in public safety or health. They are interested in their own comfort, therefore they have invented a non-existent "right" to go where they want and have everyone in the room kow-tow down to their preferences.

I can think of all sorts of things that I would like to see banned for my own comfort:

Democrats, Green Day, People who watch American Idol, Close Talkers, Katie Couric.......

McCain's Walk-In/Public Enemies

Why don't I update my blog more often, you ask?

Because I have a little bit of a life nowadays, and blogging is not my full-time profession.

I update when I have something to say, and today I have something to say. I would rather wait until something raises my interest than pretend that I am even REMOTELY interested in most of the useless info that passes for news nowadays.

Anyhoo, I see that the President of Iran has now jumped on board with the so-called "9-11 Truth" movement.

I know that I am supposed to be aggravated by this, but quite frankly I am delighted.

THIS is the guy that Barack Obama claims that he will "schedule a meeting with immediately".

I cannot wait for McCain's people to sit down and put Barack Hussein Obama's statements back to back with this fruitcake's ramblings.

It will make a winning television commercial for sure.

In other news........

They have begun filming the Johnny Depp/Christian Bale movie "Public Enemies" here in the Great Metropolis of Oshkosh, Wi. This is taking place just a couple blocks from my house.

I am sure that this going to be really good for the town. Kids are excited about it, people are lining the streets to watch the filming and all that. If the movie does ANY kind of business this is going to be a great memory for many people in the "I was there when they filmed that" type of story.

For me? This just means that it was a pain in the cat-flap to get to the library on Monday night, and that I have to wait 'til this is over to check if The Exclusive Company can get the "Dusk 'Til Dawn" soundtrack (They are open, I just don't want to run the gauntlet of movie fans to get there).

If you have nothing better to do, go check it out. Might be fun.

I have a feeling that my daughter wants to go but is showing just the right amount of contempt for the whole thing to please me.

May have to bite the bullet on this one......

Just when I thought I was going to bed.....

Damn, I should have known better than to even pay attention to local politics.

I knew that the weeping and gnashing of teeth was still going on about the Supreme Court election last week, but I was not aware of just how bad it still was.

A little background here:

I have resisted sending this blog around and linking to the various media because I am not entirely sure what it is. I have an interest in politics, and a healthy amount of contempt for most folks involved in it.

It is a hellish situation. It is kind of like being really interested in music but the only band left is Green Day.........*shudder*....

I was the Managing Editor of a political magazine for a few years, but I sometimes think that maybe I should just keep this personal. Simply a tool of my own gratification.

A "Legend In My Own Mind" if you will.

After all, there are plenty of folks out there doing "serious" analysis of the news (and getting it wrong btw), why should I jump back into that stinky pool?

Then I came across this article.

It is a guy named Dave Zweifel who is apparently editor EMERITUS of The Capitol Times.

Now I sure that this guy is a big deal. I personally have never really heard of him, but I am enormously self-centered so that doesn't mean much.

Regardless, This is apparently what passes for serious news analysis in Madison nowadays(emphasis mine):

"When given a choice between a liberal judge and a traditionalist judge, people chose a traditionalist judge," pontificated Jim Pugh to the Associated Press, whatever in the world a "traditionalist judge" is.
From what I can tell, he or she is a judge who is bought lock, stock and barrel by the big business community, which can afford millions of dollars to buy smear advertising to negate what could otherwise be an intelligent debate between candidates."

Of course, in his world this only counts if that "intelligent debate" leads to his candidate being elected.

Yep. It's that simple.

Business BAD. Liberal Good. UGH.

Anyway, here is MY serious analysis of the situation regarding WMC's involvement in recent elections.

The long list of whiners that have permeated the blogosphere with thier drivel actually go quite a long way towards proving that WMC is a necessity.

Far from being a "secret cabal" that is bent upon the rape and pillage of the Wisconsin economy, WMC is a group of businesses that has formed in one of the most business unfriendly states in the union for no other reason than thier very own SURVIVAL.

Dave Zweifel was kind enough to provide a list in his article of all the businesses and CEO's who are a part of WMC.

This provides a most excellent chance for comparison doesn't it?

Let us compare a few of the politicians, media trogs, and academics that have been whining loudest to the supposed "agents of evil" that Zweifel is hoping you will call and harrass.

Boldt Construction provides jobs, and pays taxes. In doing so they make a tremendous contribution to the local community.

Dave Zweifel provides.......his own thoughts about how evil Boldt Construction is.

John Deere Horicon Works provides hundreds of high-paying jobs, and is an innovative leader in the farm equipment industry, as well as having a long history of doing charity work (such as donating thier not very old computers to various charitable organizations).

Ed Garvey provides......well......entertainment?

Ok, Ed DOES give something.

Marshall & Isley supports each community where they are located in multiple ways through The M&I Foundation.

And Bill Christofferson provides advice to Democrats, and the occasionl hit-piece on someone else when a friend or client needs it.

But nothing for you baby.

Who is it among these that actually provides something tangible for the community?

Has Dave Zweifel ever under-written a parade or blood drive with his own money?

Has Ed Garvey? Or Bill "xoff" Christofferson?

In Dave Zweifel's world, folks that disagree with him would not be able to fight back. Likewise Garvey, Xoff, Doyle, and the whole rest of that lot.

WMC has committed a Cardinal Sin in the liberal world :

They fought, and they won.

I encourage you to use that list that Zweifel has so conveniently provided.

Send a letter to these companies and thank them.

Thank them for helping to rein in an out of control Supreme Court that was quickly becoming the laughing-stock of the nation.

Thank them for the jobs, and the taxes that they pay, and the charity that they do in your community.

Thank them for teaching Dave Zweifel that in America, citizens have the right to assemble together politically, spiritually, philosophically, and yes FINANCIALLY for thier common interest.

Finally, send Dave Zweifel a big 'ol Thank You for providing that list. I will keep it and make sure throw as much business as I can to the companies on that list.

Oh, and send him a cake or something. He seems kinda down.

Capitol Snoozefest

Pretty interesting watching General Petraeus appear before the Senate today.

Well, interesting is a subjective term...

It was interesting just how LITTLE actually happened.

Barack Hussein Obama spent the entire time trying to convince everyone that he is serious about the war and not looking for immediate withdrawal.

Hillary Clinton spent the entire time trying to convince everyone that despite the fact that she does not believe Petraeus is telling the truth, she does not believe he is a liar. Oh, and she also has no plan to withdraw immediately.

I guess just so he could keep up with the transparent flip-flop competition, John McCain spent a good amount of time asking pointed questions that he already knew the answers to, and leveling criticism of the way everything has been handled. He DID mention that he did not think it was the General's fault, but since Petraeus has been in charge over there for a year, it certainly begs the question of exactly who it was McCain was dissing.

In fact, this whole thing was so boring that the NY Times has an entire article devoted just to the "performances" of the 3 Presidential contenders.

Ugh. This is what we get for candidates?

Wonder what Perot is doing nowadays?

I mean other than shipping his own company's jobs overseas?

By The Pricking Of My Thumbs......

...............Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Ahh yes. It appears that "Operation Melt Down" is in full swing this morning on the Left end of the spectrum.

A bit of a dust up at a Hillary Clinton Event yesterday. Audio here.

Ted Turner unleashed yet another classic with his predictions of Cannibalism and his "observations" (hallucinations?) on the many virtues of Al Qaeda.

( I have to agree with Dennis Miller on this one. Turner is the last one who should have to worry about cannibalism, it is obvious that something inside of him has spoiled. Even dogs will be giving that stuff a pass).

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes has been suspended for talking smack about Hillary Clinton. It is damn funny btw, but beware that the language gets a little rough.

This is just a small sampling of the chaos currently a-bubbling on the left.

*sniff*..................*sniff*..........I think I smell Chicago 1968.............and it smells like roses.

I have to admit that I feel just a TAD bit evil taking pleasure in all of this, but I will get over it.

I am reminded of a character called "Mr. Dark" in Ray Bradbury's brilliant novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

In the movie version of the novel, Mr. Dark explains the nature of his people:

"Your torments call us like dogs in the night. And we do feed, and feed well. To stuff ourselves on other people's torments. And butter our plain bread with delicious pain... Funerals, marriages, lost loves, lonely beds " that is our diet. We suck that misery and find it sweet. We can smell the young ulcerating to be men a thousand miles off. And hear a middle-aged fool like yourself groaning with midnight despairs from halfway round the world. "

Not ENTIRELY applicable of course, but close enough.

"We suck that misery and find it sweet...."

Mr. Dark would have loved the Democrat Party.

Mmmmmm......tasty stuff.

National VS. Local News

For those of you who still remember Soapbox Magazine, you might recall that my particular duty was a focus National politics vs. Local.

It was just after 9-11, The Iraq War was heating up, and Enron and Global Crossing had sent both Republicans and Democrats running to thier lawyers.

Ahhh.....Good Times.

Unlike now.

There are alot of things going on in the national arena, but they have been covered so much with the same talking points by ALL forms of media that I feel like I have a head full of wet cement every time I think about it.

I will just say this:

Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama are both very weak candidates at best.

Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama are both crazy joke candidates at worst.

Between the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the Imaginary Sniper Incident, neither one of them can really be taken seriously anymore, if they ever could be taken seriously to begin with.

I predict here and now that John McCain will have the easiest skip into the White House since the Reagan Revolution.

I can't help but feel that we are really only getting a slightly saner version of the two Democrat candidates even with McCain, but this remains to be seen I guess.

I really gotta wonder how sane you really CAN be if you have spent more than a few minutes talking to Russ Feingold, as McCain has.

That's bound to shake up the 'ol mental architecture a bit..

Ugh.

It is FUNNY when the Left Loses...Really!

I was talking with a few friends last night about April Fool's Day gags and an interesting point came up in the discussion.

It is really funny to put one over on someone. They get slightly embarrassed, maybe a little miffed and we all share a good yuck over the whole thing.

What is HILARIOUS however, is when you are fully aware that given a little extra push, you are dealing with the type of person whose head may just explode from a bit of good-natured ribbing. It is funny because it is so easy with these people.

I can't help be reminded of this as I cruise the blogs this afternoon checking the left's reaction to yesterday's elections.

There are Left-Wing heads exploding all over this morning.

"Gableman's a jerk...blah..blah.."

"WMC....blah..blah...."

Madison is awash in metrosexual (and other "exual")angst today, and angels are singing :)

Without a doubt, a standout in this regard can be found at a peculiar swamp of self-delusion I found called "The Hippie Perspective".

This character is a near-perfect illustration of why Ann Coulter is so happy making her living the way she does. It is just so EASY.

There seems to be a pattern among liberals when it comes to losing.

They ALWAYS lose because the other guy didn't play fair in some way, and they will be the first ones to cry about it.

John Kerry lost because of the Swift-Boats ( Not because he was....well come on! Just look at him!)

Al Gore lost because of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas (Not because he was Al Gore).

You could go on and on.

Today's target is of course Wisconsin Manufacturer's and Commerce.

According to the "brainchild" behind THP, Michael Gableman's ascension has little or nothing to do with the just plain WIERD (and Counter-Constitutional) philosophy of Louis Butler and the various special interest groups that own him, and more to do with the "vile filth" that came out of the WMC.

You see, this is how it breaks down:

YOU, Dear Reader, are as dumb as a sack of hammers.

The WMC, is a mysterious shadow group run by Republicans in black suits and red power ties who are aware that you are as dumb as a sack of hammers, and are only too eager to take advantage of this fact.

It is not your fault, not everyone can be as on top of it all as the guy who runs "The Hippie Perspective".

He will protect you.

He and his ilk act as a veritable watchtower of piety. Valiantly protecting the innocently stupid from folks who harm them with (gasp)"wrong thoughts".

Despite thier best efforts however, occasionally a thought gets through and infects the general population.

The result? Calamity!

You were in the powerful grip of stronger stuff: A television ad.

Or maybe....

Just MAYBE you looked at both candidates, realized that they were both running sleazy ads by special interest groups and chose the candidate that closer to your political philosophy?

Is such a thing possible?

Not in his world, of course. YOU have dropped the ball my dreary little masonry block, and now you will be punished.

Predictably, the pure-hearted hero at THP has jumped on the same bandwagon as Phanny from my earlier post.

THE DECISION MUST NOW BE TAKEN OUT OF THE HANDS OF THE VOTERS. JUDGES MUST BE APPOINTED. THE HAMMERS MUST BE TAKEN OUT OF THE EQUATION.

Fear not though, gentle reader. They will come to thier senses as soon as there is a Republican Governor.

Aids and Armageddon/Reverend Wright & Co.

Years ago, a friend of mine was kind enough to turn me on to an album called "Triage" by the brilliant musician/songwriter David Baerwald.

It is a theme album built around various conspiracy theories that Mr. Baerwald no doubt still espouses.

"America....Bad Guy...Ugh".

It really is as close as one can get to looking inside of the crippled minds that are likely to latch onto fads such as the 911 "truth" movement, or the belief that the government created Aids in order to.....well I guess that whatever group they were trying to kill depends on which one is telling the story.

Now, by the time I first heard this music I was old enough to know better. I had matured beyond the strident belief that the CIA was cataloguing my every urination, but I enjoyed the music nonetheless.

Listening the last month or so to all the kerfuffle over the Reverend Jeremiah Wright really got me thinking about this cd. It also got me thinking about how miserable I was back in the day when I was likely to take such idiotic claims seriously.

How could one live with this belief and be happy? Wouldn't you want to get the hell out of this country if you thought that was true? Wouldn't you want to fight back?

Something?

Something other than annoying your relatives over Thanksgiving dinner?

The Reverend Wright (for those who are not aware) has stated forcefully from his pulpit in the not-too-distant past that AIDS was created by the U.S. Government in order to eradicate the black population.

As for 911, he has fluctuated back and forth between "chickens coming home to roost" and "inside job". I guess he is on the fence as far as how evil we are on that one.

The world of conspiracy theories is a dark, scary place, and I have to wonder sometimes how one can actually live there.

To my mind, it seems beyond the pale that a person who actually believes that his government is waging biological warfare on it's own citizen's would not be catching the first train to Toronto.

So how seriously do we really take these folks?

Just spitballin'.

And Another Thing! (Elections Cont...)

In the far-reaching reportage (See? I know words TOO Phanny!) of yesterday's nail-biting (and eventually GLORIOUS) Supreme Court elections the refrain of "and the only African-American Member of The Supreme Court..." has been deafening with regard to "Loophole" Louis Butler.

Let me tell ya. Until this morning, I had no idea that this guy was even black. I am sure that it was reported, and now that I look back in the archives of some of the less intelligent blogs and reporters out there (they are legion btw) I see that the race card was indeed played. Some fool was even exhorting us not too let the sacrifices of Wisconsin boys during the civil war be in vain by dumping the Loopster.

I ain't kiddin' ya, I threw up in my mouth a little on that one.

I am sure that I have seen Louis Butler's face on a commercial somewhere, but I guess when you are a T.V. baby like me you kind of have a happy place that you go in your mind when ANY commercial is on.

I knew he was a defense attorney, and that judging by his decisions lately that my 13 year-old daughter probably has a better grasp on the Constitution.

But I swear on the deity of your choice that I did not know that he was black.

Come to think of it, I guess it kinda makes me wonder about the viability of political advertising on television. They should just give me the cash.

No reason. They just should.

Thoughts on Yesterday's Elections

Strangely enough, I think it was the less than stellar behavior of various organizations and/or persons during this election that finally prompted me to lay finger to keyboard once again after all this time.

I am not talking candidates or special interest groups. They did what they usually do: Act in thier own best interests. Surprise!!

My interest lies more in the subtle ways that those who will stop at nothing to get thier candidate elected attempt to shift the issue to either some ONE or some THING else.

Take this young lad for instance:
http://badgerherald.com/oped/2008/04/01/seat_on_high_court_s.php

Robert Phansalker, a first year law student.

Not a bad little screed. Works a bit too hard to convince us that he knows what words are, but all in all not bad.

But here is the money quote....AND the problem.

"Running to appease the majority is not the function of the judiciary — that’s the Legislature’s job. And turning the judiciary into the Legislature all but guarantees that the majority will not be regulated or moderated, but hegemonic and disrespectful to the sensitive issues that affect minorities in a society as diverse as ours."

It occurs to me as I read that paragraph that ONLY a college student could have so little understanding of what is happening in reality, as opposed to the theoretical world that he currently resides in.

Mr. Phansalker is apparently unaware The Wisconsin Supreme Court's recent record. If he was he would understand that it is the Supreme's themselves who believe that they ARE the legislature, and that they have legislative powers and/or the ability to ORDER the legislature to pass the laws that they desire.

I am sure that Mr. Phansalker and many others would be happier with a system where he and the many exalted that he is surrounded with at the "Uni" were able to pick the Supreme's and leave the rest of us riff-raff out of the picture. Too bad for him (That damn voting thing!)

I will forgive him this failing. He is young and will have to live out here with the rest of us at some point, and I am sure that when his business is sued, taxed, or policed out of viability etc. he will change his tune.

Unless he becomes a college professor or something.

In that case I am afraid his soul is lost.........

First Post! Yay!!!

Well, well.

After 3-4 years out of the politics game I am finally back to share my incredible insights with the cool half-dozen folks who might even care :)

Who am I?

Nobody really, just a faceless soul who once ran a political magazine in the Fox Valley of Wisconsin.

Why should you care?

Because I am that good!

Stay tuned!
